Step 1: Start here
You have the option to apply for a Blue Card (for new or expired cards) or renew a Blue Card (card has not expired yet) online.
Is this your first Blue Card?
- Yes – Go to Step 2: Register for an online account
- No – Has your Blue Card expired?
- Yes – Go to Step 4: Apply for your Blue Card
- No – Go to Step 5: Renew your Blue Card
If you have an existing Blue Card (for non-Bahá’í reasons), go to Step 3: Link your account to the Bahá’í community.
If you are a Registered QLD Teacher, you will need to apply for an Exemption Card: Go to Step 4: Apply for your Blue Card
Get your documents ready. You will need to prove your identity with a Customer Reference Number (CRN) from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads before you can apply for a blue card. Read what you need.
After registering an account, do not apply for a Blue Card yet. See the next steps below.
Within 2 hours
After setting up your account, you should receive an email confirmation from Blue Card Services.
It can take up to 2 hours to receive this email confirmation.

Step 3: Link your account to the Bahá'í community
Forward this email confirmation to childprotectionadmin@qld.bahai.org.au to have your account linked to the Baha’i community, this may take a few days, but once complete, will remove the costs involved.
If you do not have the email confirmation, email them your online account number, see FAQs below for more information.
Within 5 days
Once you have received this email below stating that your account has been linked, continue to the next step.


Step 4: Apply for your Blue Card
- Log back into the Blue Card Services website
- Select Apply for a new card
- For Registered QLD Teachers: Apply for an exemption card.
- If successfully completed you will see the following web page and email.


After a few days
After a few days, you will receive this email.

Step 5: Renew your Blue Card
- Log in to the Blue Card Services website
- Select Renew your blue card or exemption card

Frequently Asked Questions
Volunteers do not have to pay for their Blue Card application when they are linked to the organisation they are volunteering with. Ensure you follow the process above to have it linked.
If you cannot apply online, you can submit a paper application. However, this takes longer, and you will need to get a certified copy of your Queensland Transport and Main Roads ID (e.g. your driver’s licence) or TMR Customer reference Number (CRN) details.
If you can’t find your Blue Card Number (in order to have it linked), call 1800 113 611 or (07) 3211 6999 and follow the prompts. You will need to prove your identity during the call.
